Go

It was a Saturday night when Lily met Jake
on a little bridge looking over the lake
There was a gleam on his eye and she couldn't deny
The smile on his face gave her butterflies
He put his hand around her waist
said this will always be our place
and he whispered in her ear
the words she'd been longing to hear

Let's go baby go
Run as fast you can
Baby don't let go
We'll go baby go
Just hold my hand
Baby don't let go
No matter which road
There's no looking back
because I love you so

Two years later in the city park
Lily can barely see, it's getting dark
Even Jake's cold hand in hers
can't seem to calm her nerves
and when he got down on one knee
and said Lily baby marry me
She didn't even have to hesitate
She knew in her heart the only words to say

Let's go baby go
Run as fast as you can
Baby don't let go
We'll go baby go
Just hold my hand
Baby don't let go
No matter which road
There's no looking back
because I love you so

It was a Saturday night when Lily met Jake
on a little bridge looking over the lake
She was a vision in white and he couldn't deny
The smile on her face gave him butterflies
He put his hand around her waist
said this will always be our place
Dancing under the stars and the moonlight
Jake looked down at his beautiful wife and he said

Let's go baby go
Run as fast as you can
Baby don't let go
We'll go baby go
Just hold my hand
Baby don't let go

Let's go baby go
Run as fast as you can
Baby don't let go
We'll go baby go
Just hold my hand
Baby don't let go
No matter which road
There's no looking back
because I love you so

Try

Remember when somebody told you
you can be anything you want to be
Every word they said is true
and it's up to you to make it a reality
I know it seems like you're standing still
when you'd rather be moving here and there
If you want this more than anything
Stop looking in the palm of your hand

You gotta try and you try
and you try one more time
until you've almost given up hope
But you try and you try
and you get it the last time
when you reach what you're climbing for

Mama only wants her boy to be happy
and Bobby's got his eye on Harvard
and when he got to be eighteen
Mama told him life was gonna be hard
but when you set your eyes on your dream
you don't ever look back on this one-horse town
You stay strong and you keep right on fighting
Don't you let them bring you down

You gotta try and you try
and you try one more time
until you've almost given up hope
But you try and you try
and you get it the last time
when you reach what you're climbing for

Hang on for dear life
so nothing slips away
Know that nothing is too high
and nothing is too far away

When I was learning to ride a bike
I relied on Daddy holding on behind me
I was so scared the first time
when he took off the training wheels
We started picking up speed and when I wasn't nervous
I felt him let go of the seat
When I fell the first time, he ran to pick me up
He kissed my knee and wiped away my tears

He said you gotta try and you try
and you try one more time
until you've almost given up hope
But you try and you try
and you get it the last time
when you reach what you're climbing for

That's Not Good Enough

I don't know who told you this
but I am not your therapist
This isn't supposed to be a one-sided conversation
You wouldn't understand my frustrations
Everything revolves around your perfect world
and your perfect world shows how shallow you are
As your friend, I feel I should tell you
the way you act from a different point of view

You're a selfish little girl, you've got your eye on the prize
You've got a sneer on your face, and your nose in the sky
I bet you're think you're perfect
but I know that you're not worth it
You think you're pretty, but you're ugly to me
I wanna open your eyes to what everyone else sees
Watch while I call your bluff
I'd rather be me, even if that's not good enough

Have you listened to the things you say?
They sound so dumb, but you say them anyway
I'm not in the mood for playing nice
and I don't really care if you think you're right
You can't keep pushing me around
so stop acting so damn proud
I've got nothing left in me
Nothing left to escape this rivalry

You're a selfish little girl, you've got your eye on the prize
You've got a sneer on your face, and your nose in the sky
I bet you think you're perfect
but I know that you're not worth it
You think you're pretty, but you're ugly to me
I wanna open your eyes to what everyone else sees
Watch while I call your bluff
I'd rather be me, even if that's not good enough

You've got fast cars and expensive pearls
You're nothing more than a spoiled little rich girl
Tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm lying
Tell me that I've crossed the line
You're feeling unstoppable, invincible
just tell me if it was worth selling out
Dry those eyes, your tears won't do you any good here
Don't come crying call I'll give you no sympathy

You're a selfish little girl, you've got your eye on the prize
You've got a sneer on your face, and your nose in the sky
I bet you think you're perfect
but I know that you're not worth it
You think you're pretty but you're ugly to me
I wanna open your eyes to what everyone else sees
Watch while I call your bluff
I'd rather be me even if that's not good enough

Over My Head

I never believed in love at first glance
but for you, I gave it a chance
Sniper steady your gun, aim carefully
Do your very best not to miss me
Pull me under, drag me deeper
Deeper underground, I'm six feet under
I closed my eyes, prayed for an escape
because I couldn't bear to watch you walk away

Standing at the edge of this cliff
I take a deep breath before diving in
and as the waves crash around me
I fight and I struggle, it gets harder to breathe
I can't keep fighting the tide
I can't keep my feelings on the inside
It looks like I'm in over my head
and I find myself drowning in the pain

The road keeps winding in front of me
and when the headlights blind me
my hands let go of the wheel
The crashing of metal drown out my screams
I can't find the will to move
so I slowly let my eyes close
Before everything fades to black
I wish you were there to take my hand

Heart racing, my nerves are shot
My fingers open and the match falls
The spark keeps working its way higher
leaving a trail of destruction behind it
I can't keep fighting the fire
I can't keep my cries on the inside
It looks like I'm in over my head
and I find myself dying in the pain

There's not a cure for the sickness inside me
There's not a way to banish the demon inside me
Put me out when I'm on fire
Pull me up when I'm buried alive
Memories keep flashing, leaving me blinded
The silence between us is deafening
It doesn't matter who is at fault here
Just lay me soul to rest in peace

I wouldn't be asking for your help
if I had the strength to save myself
and because you're the one killing me
please quickly end all of my suffering
The trail will grow colder behind me
I'll die with your buried memories
It looks like I'm in over my head
but I'm just dying in the pain
